Defining Squire Expectations
Now that we have simplified the ranks, we need to come up with requirements/expectations for the ranks above Soldier. Here are the ranks and a brief description of past expectations.
I do not want these descriptions to be long. They need to be very concise and to the point. Two sentence max, but preferably one sentence.
King: Final Word
Lord: Adviser to the King.
Knight: Active and helpful with members. Leads activities. Helps keep the guild in order.
Squire: Our most active, friendly, and trusted members.
Soldier: New friends.
Ally: Members of our ally guilds. [Liars] and [RLR]
Zombies: Old inactive friends that we love dearly, and nobody has the will to kick out.
Guild Mission: New Ally rank for members who only join us for Guild Missions.
Teamspeak:
I would like to toss this out as a bone for thought. All of the current officers use Teamspeak. I would like that as a requirement for any future promotion to Knight or above.
It has also been mentioned by many of us that we would like to be a little more voice chat focused. Should that be a requirement for Squire? I am leaning towards yes.
Requirements:
I will edit this section further later: While the descriptions should be short, a requirements list underneath should be more detailed.
Expectations for the Rank of Squire
Squire: You are seen talking in Guild Chat regularly.
... are friendly and helpful to other members.
... start/join parties with other guild members (dungeons/map events/WvW/PvP).
... are not always picky about who can join your parties (Teach).
... participate in guild events/games.
... are a regular participant in Voicechat (at least once a week other than Guild Missions).
... represent AoL most of the time (~90%).
... are registered on our forum (lightness.forumotion.com).
... have introduced yourself on the forum and participate in threads (Min. Level 1, 10 posts).
If you do not maintain these expectations, you could be demoted.
For Knight and above lets take a look at Ratch's old posting. It is good. I would like to streamline it. It is very wordy. I think for this week lets concentrate on requirements for Squire.

Re: Defining Squire Expectations
I am all for making TS a requirement for higher ranks. I like the descriptions you did for the ranks as well. I have nothing to add to it.

Re: Defining Squire Expectations
I agree about TS for Squire. Though I'm not sure how we would measure it. How active on TS would they need to be? I understand that some people would prefer not to speak. Maybe at a minimum that they are on TS to listen for GM.

Missions, but I would like to promote a more active Teamspeak). Active in guild chat. Friendly and helpful to members.
Witnessed starting parties and being patient with members. Not overly elite about party makeup.
I think this is good as is and I dont have anything to add

Re: Defining Squire Expectations
I am in agreement with the rank requirements, we should strongly urge squires and below to join in T.S. at a minimum to at least listen thus making all the activities we will be doing easier to follow along..

Re: Defining Squire Expectations
the new rank list looks great and better sorted. as far as Squire goes there's not a whole lot more i can think of to add. although it is a good thing if everyone involved could be on ts during more than just missions, like AoL dungeon runs or anything that has to do with a group.

Re: Defining Squire Expectations
OK most people seem to like my statement. Lord of Battle raised a good concern about how would we measure it. So, we need to come up with a good phrasing of our policy statement. What I wrote up top in blue is only a half-ass policy statement.

Re: Defining Squire Expectations
Maybe 2 hours a week on TS? I'm betting for most the ease of being on teamspeak is going to cause those that are forced to it to enjoy it and spend more time.

Re: Defining Squire Expectations
OK! I've updated my Expectations for the Rank of Squire. Check it out and be ready to discuss and finalize at today's officer meeting.
My next topic will be forming similar Expectations for Knight.
I would like Inu to pick a topic concerning something she would like to see become better.

Re: Defining Squire Expectations
I like it. And I think that most people would find getting on TS much more convenient once they're "forced" to get on more often (I know I did).
I wonder if we should set up some way for members to nominate people for promotion. Especially those that they find very helpful.

Re: Defining Squire Expectations
I don't think this is too much to expect. Squires following these guidelines will prove they're looking to rank up.

Well, if these are the "requirements" for being Squire, aren't they a prerequisite to get the promotion?
